Text Box: The Trip: 16-19 days of canoeing on the lakes and river. Duration is dependent on water levels, weather (wind), and ability of the group. It is a three day journey from Living Waters traveling by vehicles, ferry crossing and taking the train or traveling to the headwaters by vehicle. It is a long days journey back to Living Waters at trip’s end from Sept Iles when catching the early ferry from Godbout. Camp sites are primitive, and we implement low impact camping techniques.

Length: Appox. 225 miles by canoe from Lac De Mille to rail mile 38 and being picked up by the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway for a short ride back to Sept Iles.

Difficulty: This expedition is not for the faint at heart! This is our most physically demanding trip. We will be facing 21+ portages (depending on water level) and numerous technical rapids. Participants must have proven paddling skills in class III whitewater and be in top physical shape.

Safety & Prevention: This is a very isolated trip. We carry a satellite phone in the case of an emergency and/or evacuation. We review whitewater paddling techniques and give very detailed instructions on what is expected concerning river safety and river rescue procedures. We approach all rapids with respect and take into consideration the remoteness of the river when opting to portage some rapids that we might normally run if we were closer to home. We give clear guidelines for what's expected on the river and around the campsite. We understand the great responsibility we have with the group and place a great emphasis on safety, prevention, and the well-being of everyone in the group.

Best Time to Go: August & September— the weather is usually warm, but you will want to pack as if you were 3 season camping. Plan on warding off lots of bugs. These will vary from year to year, dependant upon water level and temps.

Ages: Teens 15 and up, adults

Cost: Approx. $1800.00 per person

Additional Costs: Participants are responsible for all on-the–road meals prior to and after the canoeing portion of our trip. We quote a price-per-person that includes up to three nights in motels (two prior and one after the trip), transportation to and from the river— including crossing the St. Lawrence Seaway by ferry (located directly due north of Living Waters). Campers may choose to rent equipment at a minimal cost.
