Text Box: Text Box: The Trip: A 5 day and 4 night canoe trip on the nearby Saint Croix River. Camp sites are primitive with outhouse or out boxes. Each site has a fire pit and a picnic table.

Length: We will be traveling approximately 20 miles by canoe (Vanceboro to Loon Bay). This short distance allows lots of in-camp time for learning skills and taking part in friendly tribal competitions.

Difficulty: The Saint Croix River is what we refer to as our “home river.” It is a great beginner river for all ages. It is dam controlled, offering same flat water, quick water, numerous class I rapids, a few class II rapids, and one optional class III rapid. There in only one optional portage at Little Falls. We have led dozens of groups (100s of people) on this river without incident.

Safety & Prevention: We give very detailed instructions. We teach the basics of canoeing and give clear guidelines for what's expected on the river and around the campsite. We understand the great responsibility we have with your young person and place a great emphasis on safety, prevention, and the well-being of your child.

Best Time to Go: We choose to begin our trip during a mid-week in July, in order to avoid weekend river traffic (other parties). Weather is usually warm, and the bugs are minimal.

Ages: 10-12

Cost: $295.00 per person

Additional Costs: There are no additional costs for campers. However, campers may choose to rent equipment at a minimal cost. We also sell camp T-shirts and offer pictures on CD’s at a reasonable cost.
