Text Box: General Information for Groups

How do we arrive at a reasonable cost-per-camper without sacrificing professionalism? Compared to for-profit outfitters and camps, Living Waters offers quality and professionally led trips for a whole lot less money. As with the overall ministry of Living Waters, we charge about half (or less) of what it costs to run the wilderness ministry. Some of the not so obvious costs are insurance, advertising, mailing, traveling to do promotional work, and transportation to and from the trip (vans, trucks, canoe trailers). Camping fees charged by large land owners, the state, or reserves in Canada can really add up! For example, a 10 day Allagash trip for 12 people cost approximately $550. This only covers campsite and day use fees charged by the State of Maine and large landowners. Entering these regions with out-of-state license plates causes the price to increase. Equipment is expensive, and over time, has to be replaced (canoes, paddles, life jackets, tents, first aid supplies, etc.). Additionally, Living Waters helps our volunteer leaders with a small ‘love gift’ at summer’s end.

What special equipment do I need?
No special equipment is needed. All you need is your personal clothing, quality hiking boots (for backpacking trips), and a sleeping bag. We will send a complete personal gear list specific to your outing when you book a trip with us.

How do I sign my group up?
Contact us to discuss your group size, ages, needs, goals, dates that you would like to do a trip, and goals you would like to see achieved while on the trip. For the pilgrimage approach you will need at least 5 days (6 is better) for the experience to be effective. Trips meet at Living Waters for registration, orientation, group initiatives, and final trip preparations. However, different starting and ending locations can be discussed in order to best accommodate your group. Our goal is to assist you in experiencing the best trip possible with your group.

So when planning your future activities and outings for your group, why not consider the wilderness? Contact us today to plan a life-changing outing.
