East Branch Penobscot RegionText Box: An excellent back country whitewater canoeing adventure, ranging in length from 3 to 10 days. Start in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway and travel south down Webster Stream to Grand Lake Matagamon, then on down the East Branch of the Penobscot River to Whetstone Falls. Shorten your trip by choosing a section of the trip. Involves numerous class I-III rapids and several portages. With the West Branch of the Penobscot Region being close by, this is a great trip to add on whitewater rafting or rock climbing before or after the canoeing portion of the trip. For ages 14-up and adults. Maximum group size with our leaders is 12.
