Text Box: Choosing Your Approach

Wilderness Pilgrimage Approach: The comfortable surroundings and distractions of every day life are gone as the group is placed in a whole new environment, suited for personal and spiritual growth. Participants are encouraged to take part in shared responsibilities such as leading, decision making, problem solving, and more. This environment is rich with trip experiences that provide participants opportunity to draw parallels to their personal and spiritual lives. Although physically demanding at times, participants do not need to be an athlete to participate. However, we do limit these trips to those who are ages 14 and older in good physical condition. We recommend the following locations.

Debsconeag Chain of Lakes-Appalachian Trail Region
West Grand Lakes Watershed Region

We are not limited to the trip options listed above. Contact us to discuss trip planning— location, duration, group size, available dates, goals for your group and cost per person.

Adventuresome Approach
While the Adventuresome Approach provides a true wilderness experience, it is less demanding than the Pilgrimage Approach and better suited for shorter outings (2-4 days), large groups (up to 25 people), and for younger groups such as: middle school children, families with small children, and for high school and adult groups who are looking for a more relaxed approach to camping (although we can offer some adventures that are quite remote and include whitewater and portaging). Morning quiet times, evening devotions, and times of singing choruses around the campfire highlight adventure outings. If you choose, we can implement some of the pilgrimage philosophy on adventures, but not to the extent as on the pilgrimage trips.

What level of experience does my group and I need?
Most trips require no prior experience at all. All that is needed is a willingness to follow instructions, a desire to learn, and motivation to jump in and get involved. Trips in which previous experience is needed can be discussed in detail during the planning stage.
